Terrible Tours

01
background

A new way of discovering Cambridge

Yes, Cambridge is home to one of the world’s greatest Universities. But it’s about much more than that. Rank Romans, scary Saxons, vile Vikings, and nasty Normans all came here long before the first scallywag Student ever did. It’s alive with stories.

Terrible Tours organises family walking tours around Cambridge to tell the history of Cambridge but in a fun and engaging way. You won’t have to worry about hearing of dull dates and boring buildings. It’s all about yuckiness and humour at Terrible Tours!

the brief

Something for the whole family

Terrible Tours required a website that was fun and engaging for all of the family. They wanted to build a story on their website with characters and themes throughout.

We communicated closely with the team at Terrible tours to discuss what they expected from their website and what its purpose was. They explained that they wanted to include a booking system where customers could book the tours directly from the website. As well as this, they asked for a design that stood out among everyone else.

the essentials

Being a website that was going to be explored by a range of ages, being mobile-friendly was more important than ever. We designed a template that would work across all devices without any loss of content or disorientation.

the solution

A website that reflected the brand

We had learnt a lot about Terrible Tours and wanted to create a website that reflected the kind of energy they gave on their tours. We got to work with designing multiple characters to go onto the website along with themes they would sit in.

Terrible Tours provided us with some up-to-date and relevant content that we used throughout the website as well as high-quality images to help promote the tours.

We kept Terrible Tours updated throughout the design process to make sure they were happy with how everything was going.

easy to update

One of the places that needed to be easy for Terrible Tours to use was their News and Events section. For them to be able to keep this update, we needed to create an easy-to-use system.

the result

An outstanding design

The end result of the Terrible Tours website was something we were extremely proud of. We had set out to create a website that mirrored the tours that were offered and we did exactly that.

The team at Terrible tours were more than satisfied with the result and couldn’t wait to promote it. Their online booking system was a success with bookings coming through as soon as the site was live.
